Pickleball

New to pickleball? These lessons are designed for players with little to no experience who want to learn the fundamentals in a fun, welcoming JCC environment. You'll get hands-on instruction covering:

• Court layout, rules and scoring basics
• Proper grip, stance and paddle control
• How to serve, return, and keep the ball in play
• Essential shots: dinks, volleys and groundstrokes
• Footwork and positioning for doubles play
• Pickleball etiquette and strategies to build confidence

By the end of the program, you'll understand the flow of the game, feel comfortable joining open play and be ready to enjoy the fastest-growing sport in the country.  No experience needed - just bring comfortable shoes, water and a positive attitude!

Paddles are available if you don't have one. Open to players aged 11 years and over.

Once you've completed at least one beginner class, you'll be eligible to sign up for our Intermediate Clinic to continue building your skills and confidence on the court.

Spring Pickleball Classic 2026 – Powerball and Age-Group Championships

Tournament Description

The Indoor Spring Pickleball Classic 2026 is back by popular demand.
Open to JCC members and the community.

• The tournament will use a rotating‑partner format, so results reflect how you play with and against a variety of partners.
• You do not need to register with a partner.
• For each group of four players, it takes three games of rotating partners to complete a game with and against each player.
• Each player will have the opportunity to play at least six games.

Price: $35, Member Price: $26.25 (includes tournament hat!)

Powerball (Advanced)

Thursday, April 16 • 7:00 - 9:30 p.m.

Thursday night is for advanced players, our Powerballers, competing for the titles of overall top male and top female player.

• Top finishers can be any age; there will not be separate awards by age group.
• All Thursday results will be submitted to DUPR.

Masters and Age Group Championships (11 years old to 60s+)

Saturday, April 18 • 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

On Saturday, men and women will compete within their own age groups against players of similar age.

• No DUPR registration will be required for Saturday play.
• We will offer age divisions for 15 and under, 16-29, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70+.
• Each age group will include a mix of playing abilities, with players competing for the top of their age category.
• All intermediate players are welcome and especially encouraged to play on Saturday, with the understanding that they may face more advanced players within their age group.
• We will also present an award to the top male and top female intermediate player.

Tournament FAQs

Which session should I sign up for?  

• If you want to test your abilities against very good players or would like to add DUPR-rated matches, sign up for the Thursday night Powerball session.
• If you are a Powerball-level player and also want to play against players in your own age group, sign up for either or for both sessions.
• If you are an intermediate player, sign up for Saturday morning. 

What if I don't have a partner? 

Partners are not needed for the tournament. If you have a partner you would be interested in playing with, see our TeamReach group, or contact [email protected] for our Partner Ladder sessions. Those who sign up for the tournament will be given first priority for the Partner Ladder sessions.   

Do I need an official DUPR Rating to sign up?  

No official DUPR rating is required to register for the tournament. However, if you are playing in the Thursday night Powerball session, you will need a free DUPR ID so that your match results can be used to create or update your DUPR rating.
   
How does my rating DUPR affect tournament placement? 

DUPR ratings will be used in the Thursday night Powerball session to help with seeding and to assign byes if there is an uneven number of players. 

When will I get my shirt  

When you register, you can choose your shirt style and size. Shirts will be ready for pickup at the JCC after the event; day and time will be provided.
