"My son – who is 19 – started Club Connect last fall as we were seeking an environment during the week where he could hang out, make new friends and have an opportunity to practice how to socialize appropriately with peers in a structured environment. I am thrilled with how much he loves the program and looks forward to going every week. Not only does he enjoy seeing his friends and catching up with other people he knows at the JCC, but the skills that the Club Connect staff reinforce in their curriculum are key to helping these students continue to mature."
Club Connect welcomes children with a variety of disabilities and needs to participate. We strive to provide participants with a high-quality program experience and maintain a low participant to staff ratio in order to provide a high level of support. The program has a maximum enrollment of 10 participants and two full-time staff run the program.
This program seamlessly incorporates accommodations that help participants be successful. For example, accommodations might include reviewing the daily schedule prior to each transition using first then language, providing adaptive equipment during activities or helping participants interpret missed social cues. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations whenever possible to support children's safe and successful participation in the program.
