Fitness and Wellness

JCC Fitness and Wellness includes a regular group fitness schedule with an array of free classes a week for members, personal training tailored to meet your needs and level, specialty classes including cancer recovery, functional fitness and stretching, wellness workshops and fun pop-up classes. Our fitness center and indoor cycling studio have state-of-the-art equipment including strength training, functional and cardio equipment.  Our fitness staff has a wide variety of experience and expertise and their number one priority is helping our members meet all of their fitness goals.

Fitness & Wellness Policies

General Fitness Center Usage

  • Members and guests must be at least 12 years old to use the fitness center. Members and guests under 12 can only use the group exercise studio as part of a supervised program (dance, group exercise class, personal training, etc.)
  • The group exercise studio is closed for general use during classes. It is open for use when there are no classes.
  • Equipment must be wiped clean after use and if applicable, returned to its area.
  • Allow others to work-in on equipment you are not actively using.
  • Bags and jackets must be left at the coatrack.

Conduct and Attire

  • Proper attire must be worn in the fitness center. Closed-toe shoes are required. Crocs and Croc-like footwear is not allowed.
  • Members and guests may be asked to leave for inappropriate conduct or inappropriate clothing.
  • Music and videos from personal devices must be listened to with headphones.

Personal Training

  • Sessions must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance or it will be charged to the account.

Fitness Instruction, Personal Training and Sports Specific Training and Instruction

JCC members and guests are not allowed to bring in outside fitness instructors, personal trainers, sports trainers or instructors (i.e., basketball, weight lifting, swimming) to provide one-on-one or group training in the gymnasium, fitness center, basketball courts, aquatics area or anywhere on our campus.

The JCC employs certified trainers and instructors who conduct both private and small group training courses and clinics which are open to members and guests.

Members and Guests may not provide these services, whether free or paid to other members or guests. This includes virtual instructional training to members while they are physically present at the JCC. 

Group Exercise

  • Participants must make a reservation on the JCC app for group exercise classes. Spots will be prioritized for members with reservations in the event of an overbooking. 

Support Groups at the JCC

Caregiver Support Group

A monthly group for caregivers to focus on their mental wellness, share their experiences and meet/connect with other caregivers. 

Beyond Diagnosis Support Group

For those who have recently been diagnosed with a health challenge or are further along on the post-diagnosis continuum, this group is designed for adults, who can understand – firsthand – the emotions and concerns of your journey. 

Both groups are free and open to the community.

Senior Exercise

Exercise can help maintain your mobility, balance, strength and flexibility.  At the JCC, we offer light exercise classes from Monday - Thursday to help keep you fit and strong. All of our instructors are full trained to work with senior adults.  We welcome all levels and encourage you to exercise at your own pace.

Senior Exercise Schedule

Member/Senior Social/Virtual Price: Free

Exercise with Colby Sheppard
Mondays • 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.
Toning exercises for muscle and bone strength and full body core strengthening to aide in mobility for the whole body are included in each class. Participate at your own pace. Chair support is offered so you can perform a variety of postures. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level.

Exercise with Helene Baum
Tuesdays • 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.
This exercise program is designed to increase strength, balance, flexibility and maintain posture. This total body workout is in seated/and or standing positions. So come join in, gain strength, better health and balance. Meet new friends too! All fitness levels are welcome.

Exercise with Jillian Shulstein
Wednesdays • 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.
Boost energy and improve balance while strengthening muscles and halting or reversing bone loss. Stretching, strength training, range-of-motion and endurance work.

Chair Yoga with Karen Rosen
Thursdays • 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.
Chair yoga increases flexibility, strength and body awareness. When standing, the chair is used to help with and improve balance. Chair yoga also includes pranayama breathing techniques and meditation to promote focus, mental clarity and relaxation.

Our fitness professionals are committed to helping everyone achieve their healthiest self, regardless of ability level.

We will make every effort to modify group classes in a discrete way so that everyone can benefit from exercise.  If you prefer a more personalized approach, our personal trainers can customize a fitness program to meet your individual needs.  Exercises can be modified to meet any level of fitness or physical barriers to participation and many of our personal trainers specialize in varying needs.
