Social Action

Social Action

Join like-minded people to do good in the world, make friends and build community.

Social action at the JCC engages participants to help repair the world (tikkun olam) and make a positive impact in our local community, regionally, and in the world. We believe that all people can help those in need and be a part of something larger than themselves. To that end, we offer volunteers of all ages – children and adults – the opportunity to build lasting relationships with each other, other agencies, and the community around them.

Each person makes a difference. Together we are responsible for making our community a place where we uphold dignity for all and seek to improve the world through our actions. Join us!

Phyllis Bernstein Kuchner Scholarship

Phyllis Bernstein Kuchner believed that being involved was better than being quiet.  She advised others to GO, to LEARN and to DO. The Phyllis Bernstein Kuchner Scholarship, established by her husband, Bob Kuchner, is intended to encourage emerging leaders to do just that.  It awards up to $1,000 to one JCC member each year who presents an opportunity they would like to pursue, and we invite all in our community to apply for this newly created scholarship.

The 2026 application will open in January 2026!
