This non-fiction book traces the hidden history of seventy synagogues that once anchored Jewish life across South Jersey, from rural farmlands to Atlantic City. Built by immigrants, farmers, shopkeepers, and Holocaust survivors, these congregations flourished for nearly 150 years before many disappeared amid changing times and development. Through vivid storytelling and careful research, the book preserves their legacy and celebrates the enduring spirit of community, faith, and Yiddishkeit. This program is in partnership with Temple Emanu-EI. Proud partner of the Jewish Book Council.
