When Al Jolson starred in this 1927 film inspired by his own life story, he not only inaugurated the age of Hollywood sound – he gave moviegoers a moving and intimate look at the lives of Jewish immigrants. It changed Hollywood cinema forever, and though twice remade, it was never equaled. A multimedia celebration of a groundbreaking cinematic event. Sponsored by the Van Winkle Foundation.
