Threadbare by Jane Loeb Rubin is a historical novel set from 1879 to 1892, following Tillie, the eldest daughter in a struggling Harlem family. Despite her dreams of continuing her education, Tillie’s responsibilities at home and her family’s needs force her to put those aspirations on hold. Through her journey, Threadbare explores issues like poverty, women’s roles, reproductive rights and the immigrant experience in turn-of-the-century New York. Proud partner of the Jewish Book Council.
