Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a psycho-social intervention that aims to reduce symptoms for various emotional issues, primarily for anxiety and depression. CBT has been shown to be the most effective therapy leading to improved functioning and a better quality of life. CBT can also be helpful in gaining a better understanding of one’s behaviors and in reducing symptoms that are maladaptive. CBT uses problem solving skills to cope with thought distortions to help individuals cope more effectively on a daily basis.
Nancy Rosenthal, MSW, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and family therapist. She treats a wide range of issues including, anxiety, depression and families. Nancy works as a therapist at Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey.
