While the average age of natural menopause in the U.S. is 51 years old, it can occur anytime in a woman’s 40s or 50s. Additionally, perimenopause, the transition period prior to menopause, can begin as early as a woman’s 30s. Hormonal changes during these times may bring a variety of both physical and emotional symptoms that can ultimately affect a woman’s quality of life. A healthy, balanced diet and physical activity can help relieve many of the symptoms that come during this stage of life. This program will discuss ways we can battle weight gain, cardiovascular risk, bone loss, and more while keeping our bodies in optimal health for a long, active and productive life.
Beth Weiner, MPH, RDN, is a registered dietitian with a Master’s in Public Health who has been practicing in the nutrition field for over 20 years.
