Whether you have recently been diagnosed with a health challenge or you are further along on the post-diagnosis continuum, consider joining us for a new JCC group designed for adults, who can understand – firsthand – the emotions and concerns of your journey. The goal of this group is for participants to express and manage emotions related to their condition, explore ways to continue to find meaning in one's life despite new limitations that may interfere with your former interests and to learn to accept help from loved ones to meet your emotional needs. Participants will be encouraged to share suggestions for occasional group activities, workshops and/or presentations by outside relevant speakers.

With the professional guidance of our facilitator Lisa Afflito who specializes in health-related counseling, you will connect with people like you who are on one of life's most difficult journeys.

Lisa Afflito is a Licensed Cinical Social Worker and a NJ certified special education teacher. She graduated from Rutgers University with a Masters Degree in Social Work. Her clinical experience includes both inpatient and outpatient settings for both adolescents and adults. Lisa is currently the Mental Health Coordinator at the adult Cystic Fibrosis center in Morristown. Her passion lies in supporting patients with chronic illness and/or chronic pain by incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, along with other solution-focused modalities. Lisa’s methodology helps people focus on learning practical strategies and coping skills that they can use to improve their daily lives.
