The New Jersey End of Life Options Act was passed in August of 2019. The law provides that a person who has six months or less to live, and is mentally capable of making medical decisions, has the option to request a prescription for medications which they can take in order to end intolerable suffering and to die peacefully. This empowers qualified individuals to end their lives in a dignified and compassionate manner, in line with the principles of self-determination and autonomy. In this talk, we will discuss eligibility for MAID (Medical Aid In Dying), the steps required to qualify and why people might choose this option. Sponsored by Compassionate Endings.
