Honoring Caregiver Awareness Month
Lisa Afflitto is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a NJ certified Special Education teacher. She graduated from Rutgers University with a Masters in Social Work. Her clinical experience includes both inpatient and outpatient settings including private practice, community mental health, and inpatient psychiatric facilities for both adolescents and adults. Lisa is currently the Mental Health Coordinator at the adult Cystic Fibrosis center in Morristown. Her passion lies in supporting patients with chronic illness/pain by utilizing methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). Lisa has also worked extensively with adolescents and young adults with disabilities – especially those with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders – and their parents.
Lisa's solution-focused methodology helps patients and families focus on learning practical strategies and coping skills that they can use to improve their daily lives. Futher supporting her community, Lisa is currently the SEPAG (Special Education District Advisory Group) reresentative in Springfield, NJ.
