1492 – A Watershed Year with Judy Okun, West Chester University Geography Professor
Monday, July 18, 2022
11:15 am - 12:15 pm
1920 Cliffwood Street
The year 1492 is emblazoned as a pivotal time in world
history. When Christopher Columbus arrived in the
Caribbean the effects were much greater than simply
claiming land for Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain. That
year also marked the defeat of the Moors in Granada and
the expulsion of Spain’s long-established Jewish community.
Join award-winning instructor Judy Okun as she offers a
combined historical and geographic lens to chart the
evolution of world events which led to this tumultuous
and dramatic year of change. This arts program is made
possible in part by a 2022 HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board
of County Commissioners.
