The recent opening of a formerly sealed archive of personal effects has enabled scholars and art historians to take a fresh look at an artist we thought we knew very well, Frida Kahlo. Especially revealing is the degree to which Kahlo fashioned her public, artistic persona around the clothes she wore. If “clothes make the man,” Kahlo artfully demonstrated that clothes could also make the woman. Sponsored by The Van Winkle Foundation.
