In 1964, many thought Sholom Aleichem’s stories of Tevye and the shtetl of Anatevka were ‘too Jewish’ to succeed as a Broadway musical. But this bittersweet story proved to be a record-setting international hit. John Kenrick, who has a passion for entertainment history along with practical stage experience, will share Fiddler’s history with us. He has appeared on PBS, Biography, the BBC, NPR and teaches at the New School and New York University. Sponsored by the Richard Gordon Memorial Fund.
