Early on, Mallory Zipkin, the JCC of Central New Jersey’s Associate Executive Director, was drawn to Jewish communal work. She joined the JCC 25 years ago as a Camp Yachad C.I.T. (Counselor in Training) and knew then she wanted to pursue a career as a Jewish communal professional.
Prior to being promoted to Associate Executive Director in January 2024, Mallory was the Camp Yachad Director for 8 years. Under her leadership Camp Yachad enrollment and staff reached record numbers. With her keen emotional understanding and energy, Mallory also put a strong focus on Camp Yachad’s core ROCKS (Ruach, Opportunity, Community, Kindness, Strength) values so, today, it is the springboard for everything that camp does including building a strong staff culture and providing an excellent framework for special events, programs and inclusion. One of Mallory’s proudest accomplishments as Camp Director was leading Camp Yachad through the pandemic – providing a much needed outlet for campers and coming out the other side even stronger.
Mallory also served as the JCC’s Teen Director, with the charge of engaging area teens. She took a brief hiatus from the JCC, serving as Assistant Director of Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village, a JCC overnight camp. When she returned, she served as Associate Camp Director for a year before being promoted to her role as Camp Director.
She is a proud graduate of both the JCCA Merrin Teen Professional Fellowship and Foundation for Jewish Camp Yitro Leadership Program where she built wonderful professional networks and strengthened her skills as a Jewish communal leader.
Mallory is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington with a degree in Jewish Studies. She lives in Scotch Plains with her husband Mitch and their two children, Shane and Zoey and dog, Dexter. They all consider the JCC their second home and love being part of the JCC community that Mallory serves.
