It is a pleasure to see all the young faces in the halls and classrooms of our JCC. Just about any day of the week or any time of year, our youngest members are engaged in classrooms, climbing a rock wall on our campsite, learning or practicing their swim strokes in our pools, rehearsing for a show, shooting hoops or doing their homework. We are so proud that our JCC is a safe, secure and comfortable launching pad for so many young lives. Come to the JCC any day after school, and this place is hopping. There were over 200 children – from 2 years to 6th grade – who spent their afternoons in After School at the J. During FY18, we also also had 10 teens working in the program. From scavenger hunts and swim parties to nights out for teens with special needs, there is always something planned for our JCC teens. In FY18, close to 50 teens learned about leadership and philanthropy in our Teen Action Service Corps (TASC) program. FY18 marked our JCC Youth Theater Group’s 10th anniversary. Over 80 2nd-8th graders once again collaborated, practiced, enjoyed time together and thrilled audiences (close to 1,500 tickets sold!) with their colorful and entertaining performance of Shrek! Our Barracuda Swim Team’s 19th season included over 130 swimmers ages five to 18. Plus in FY18, over 700 children were enrolled in our American Red Cross group and private swim lessons. And that doesn’t count all the Early Childhood students and Camp Yachad campers who got swim instruction! From November 2017 to March 2018, our Youth Basketball Program – over 130 1st through 12th graders – kept the energy high in our Eisenberg Gymnasium with all of their practices and games.
