FY17 Annual Report
“It was so exciting to have the opportunity to fundraise for the rock wall at our “Camp Rocks” Winter Fundraiser! Feeling the energy in the gym during the cash call was amazing – we knew then that we would be able to turn all those donated dollars into something tangible and fun for all the campers at Camp Yachad.” – Tracey and Jay Hoberman, 2017 “Camp Rocks” Winter Fundraiser Co-chairs “When the idea of the rock wall first came up, we all came together to make it happen – from finding the right one to watching the installation to seeing all the excited campers. Very rewarding to see your vision through.” – Alex Skibinsky, 2014-17 JCC Board Member “I loved the rock wall so much because I could go so high, and then I could also go down the rope at the end!” – Harry, Camp Yachad Camper, age 6 “I like the rock wall because it’s fun to climb, and I feel proud when I climb all the way to the top, and I like the colors of the rocks, and I like hanging from the ropes.” – Emma, Camp Yachad Camper, age 6 WE PUSHED FUN TO NEW HEIGHTS Wow! Our new 24-foot ROCK WALL added fun and challenge to Summer 2017, and it was made possible through your donations and the generous time and effort dedicated by Tracey and Jay Hoberman and Alex Skibinsky. Yachad ROCKS is a phrase we use to represent the values we embrace each and every day at camp and in our community, and the rock wall put new meaning in Yachad ROCKS! R – Ruach (Spirit) Every day groups enthusiastically cheered on their fellow campers as they scaled the rock wall! O – Opportunity Campers had the chance to literally reach new heights! And let’s not forget all the new jumper tricks everyone tried! The rock wall boosted campers’ confidence and gave them a chance to try something new. C – Community EVERYONE participated in the fun! Campers, counselors, parents – our JCC staff even tested it out during team building sessions! K – Kindness There was nothing better than hearing campers congratulate their friends when they made it up the wall or earned an “I made it to the top of the rock” button . S – Strength The rock wall built campers up both physically and mentally – we witnessed a lot of great can-do attitudes as campers left their comfort zones and exercised their muscles!
