Our outstanding Aquatics program offers instructional and recreational programs for infants to active seniors. You can also use your leadership skills and show your love for aquatics by enrolling in one of the American Red Cross certification programs. Build strength and endurance with regular workouts in our six lap lanes or test the water with an American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim class. Private and Semi Private lessons are also available. Water Babies (6-18 mos)
This class introduces water in a fun way to infants and toddlers with their caregivers. Children learn basic arm and leg movements while playing games and singing songs. Basic water adjustment is taught while ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience in the water. Maximum number of students to instructor: 10 to 1.
Aqua Tots (18-36 mos)
Aqua Tots should have had two or more previous sessions of water adjustment lessons, require flotation or support all the time or benefit from caregiver presence and support in the water. Children learn basic arm and leg movements while playing games and singing. Basic water adjustment and pool safety are taught while ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience in the water. Maximum number of students to instructor: 10 to 1.
Seahorse (3-5 yrs Preschool 1)
Students become comfortable with water entry and begin front and back floats. Bubbles assist with flotation and arm and leg movements are introduced. Children who are comfortable putting their faces in the pool are also ready for this class, which will help them begin the transition to swimming on their own. Swimmers progress from large to small bubbles and to no bubble when ready. The parent/caregiver must return to the pool area 5 minutes prior to the end of class. Maximum number of students to instructor: 5 to 1.
Intermediate Seahorse (3-5 yrs Preschool 2)
Students start ro gain basic swimming propulsive skills on the front and back as they progress from minimal support to independent swimming. Appropriate personal safety and rescue skills are included to help children meet safety goals. The parent/caregiver must return to the pool area 5 minutes prior to the end of class. Maximum number of students to instructor 5:1.
Advanced Seahorse (3-5 yrs Preschool 3)
Swimmers must be able to swim on the front and the back without any support. This is an advanced swimming class geared for preschoolers who are comfortable in the water, but cannot be advanced due to their age. Maximum number of students to instructor: 5 to 1.
Level 1 Introduction to Water Skills(5+ yrs)
Students learn to feel comfortable in the water. Level 1 participants learn to enter and exit the water safely, pick up a submerged object, swim on their front and back using arm and leg actions, submerge their mouth, nose, and eyes and float on their front and back.
Level 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills(5+ yrs)
Students master fundamental skills. Level 2 participants learn to enter the water by stepping or jumping from the side, roll over front to back and back to front, swim on their side, tread water using arm and leg motions and swim on their front and back using combined strokes. This is for the beginner who is not afraid of the water and needs some assistance forward and backward.
Level 3 Stroke Development (5+ yrs)
Students build on the skills mastered in Level 2. Level 3 participants learn to jump into deep water from the side, perform the survival float, perform a front and back glide and perform front and back crawl. Freestyle with rotary breathing is refined and students work on building endurance.
Level 4 Stroke Improvement (5+ yrs)
Students develop confidence in the different strokes and improve other aquatic skills. Level 4 participants master their front and back crawl and learn the breaststroke and butterfly. Elementary backstroke is also learned in this class and students continue to build endurance.
Level 5 & 6 Stroke Refinement (5+ yrs)
Students must have successfully completed Level 4 before taking this class. Participants will refine the four major strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) and learn to swim with ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness for greater distances. Flip turns and competitive aspects of swimming will be introduced.
Middle-School Aged Swim Class
Gain endurance and fitness through lap swimming and stroke drills. Perfect for middle
schoolers without the swim team commitment who want a swim class with peers of the same age. All levels.
Starts and Turns
Students must have successfully completed Level 4 before taking this class. This class will focus on competitive diving progressions and all stroke turns. Course taught by the Barracudas coaching staff.
Adult Masters Workout
Masters swim workouts are a terrific, non-weight-bearing way to improve your cardiovascular system and stay fit. Our coaches will help swimmers to finesse stroke techniques, improve endurance and encourage a healthy and safe swim routine.
Aqua Jam
Looking for something different? Try Aqua Jam—our fun, safe and effective aquatic fitness class that focuses on all those body parts we always wish we could strengthen and tone. All with great music! These workouts are in both shallow and deep water using training aids. Aqua Jam will work on strengthening muscles, improving cardiovascular efficiency and increasing overall flexibility. Participants don't have to know how to swim but they should be comfortable in the deep water. This class is excellent for prenatal moms and seniors.
Aqua Zumba
Get fit, get happy! You can move and groove with music guaranteed to make waves. Take this dynamic workout and discover how hot the water can be!
Beginner/Intermediate Adult Masters Workout
This small-group class will address beginning fitness swimmer questions and problems. Do you get "out of breath" when you swim? Learn proper technique and enjoy swimming laps with our expert instructors.
Swim & Spin Training for Triathletes
Are you training to compete in a triathlon soon and need a little help? Are you looking to improve your endurance? Let our experienced instructors help you get ready for race day. First 45-minutes focus on swim. Second half of class is free group exercise Spin class in the Spin Studio.
