Leaders in Training (L.I.T.)
Entering 9th Grade

• The L.I.T. program gives valuable hands-on leadership skills needed to be a successful summer camp counselor, combined with a top-notch travel camp experience
• L.I.T.s will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a leadership group on honing communication skills, developing trust and engaging in creative thinking with professional speakers
• L.I.T.s will alternate their weeks in summer camp between group and specialist internships and travel including one extended (4 nights, 5 days) overnight trip per 4 week session
• L.I.T.s successfully completing at least one 4-week session of the program are accepted to work in camp the following summer as a Counselor in Training (C.I.T.)

Workshop sample topics:

• Games and activities to excite campers
• Learning how to work with peers and supervisors
• Leadership styles and approaches
• Time management and organization skills

Sample Leader in Training Travel Schedule

Week 3:  Cape Cod (kayaking, fishing, candlepin bowling, Fenway Park)

Week 6:  North Carolina (Bryce Mt. Resort, Natural Bridge, Smokey Mountains)
