Please note that the gymnasium and cafe will be closed all day on Sunday, June 5 for Camp Yachad staff training. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Classes missed can be made up at the discretion of the Aquatics Department within the session the class is missed. There is no guarantee a make-up class will be available, but the Aquatics Department will make every effort to accommodate the need. No credits for missed classes.
If you can’t find the right class or think your child has moved up since the last class, you can bring your swimmer in to be tested. This will ensure that your child will be taught at his/her appropriate level. It only takes a couple of minutes for an instructor to evaluate a child’s ability. Contact Michelle Sion at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like assistance choosing the right level.
To help your child feel more secure, you’re welcome to stay in the pool area the first day of class and again on the last day of lessons. During the intervening weeks, please wait in the pool area for only the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes of class. This will allow your swimmer to focus on the lesson.
Children under the age of 3 (and older if not toilet trained) need to wear a disposable swim diaper and rubber pants under their bathing suit. Be sure to bring a towel or two. (The JCC provides towel service for $1.50 at the Member Services Desk.) Goggles are recommended.
Swimmers must shower before entering the pool. Parents must accompany children 6 and under in the pool water except during instruction. Children between 6 and 13 must have a parent or guardian in the pool area at all times during free swim. Swimmers with long hair must wear a bathing cap or have their hair in a rubber band. Swimmers may not use their own flotation devices, toys or pool equipment. Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets
are permitted. The JCC provides bubbles for children accompanied by an adult. Under conditions of thunder and/or lightning, the JCC pools will be closed until 30 minutes after the last incidence of thunder or lightning.
Use Please lock all valuables in lockers while in the pool. Lockers must be emptied daily. Children are not to be left unattended in the locker rooms. Parents/caregivers must accompany children into the locker room to assist with dressing. Children over 5 accompanied by a different-gender parent/caregiver must change in the private changing room; see the Member Services Desk for a key.
