Group ExPress is an efficient and effective tool in your workout regimen.  It's a 30-minute small group fitness class with an experienced instructor/trainer.  Group ExPress offers the dedicated attention of personal training at a lower cost as well as the ability to choose specific workouts. Seven different class options allow you to vary your workouts and intensity from session to session.  (See descriptions below.)

Class Descriptions 

TRX/Kettlebell is an intense and effective workout which combines suspension training (TRX) with kettlebells to build strength and cardio endurance, with an emphasis on the lower body.

Flow Yoga is a combination of accessible postures connected through breath and fluid movement, increasing stamina, strength and flexibility, and reducing stress.

SpINTENSE is a hard-hitting, non-stop ride - never the same playlist twice.

Bodyweight Workout/ExPress Abs builds muscle endurance and a toned physique using the weight of your own body.  Learn some effective workout techniques that you can replicate at home.

Full Body Boot Camp includes short but intense cardio intervals, full-body strength work and a little extra ab work.  You’ll slim down your entire body and feel amazing.

Metabolic Circuit Training burns calories not only during exercise, but up to 12-24 hours afterward! Increase your energy consumption post-exercise, leading to a higher resting metabolic rate.

Rise and Shine Indoor Cycling gets your body moving and warmed up early in the morning!

Full Body Stretch Training

Work with a certified trainer to enhance overall movement, reduce stress and improve flexibility. Better flexibility can improve your performance in physical activities, decrease your risk of injuries, help your joints move through their full range of motion and enable your muscles to work most effectively.  These 30-minute sessions are offered as 3-packs or as a single session.  A complimentary flexibility assessment is included.

NEW! JCC Cancer Exercise Training/Recovery Fitness

This program will help individuals recovering from cancer treatment by providing hands-on training with Debi Price, certified expert.  Training is designed to help patients and survivors who may be suffering from effects caused by surgery and treatment.  Debi will teach exercises designed to help heal and improve physical and emotional quality of life post cancer treatment.   

Some cancer patients think that rest will decrease fatigue and hasten recovery, however rest may make cancer patients weaker and more drained of energy.  This training offers patients and survivors a proactive way to improve their health and reclaim their lives past cancer.

Benefits of Working with a Cancer Exercise Expert:

  • Reduce pain and fatigue
  • Prevent, identify and manage lymphedema (swelling in arms or legs)
  • Increase shoulder range of motion and correct postural deviations following mastectomy and/or reconstruction
  • Improve treatment tolerance
  • Prevent and/or manage osteoporosis, diabetes, and damage to the heart and lungs following chemotherapy, radiation or hormonal therapy
  • Return to pre-treatment levels of strength and fitness

Join Vin, certified personal trainer, every Friday for a gentle stroll outside or around the gym. Class will include light stretches and is appropriate for all levels of fitness.

Support Groups

La Leche League at the JCC

La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to helping mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education and dedicated to promoting a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother. 

La Leche League will meet at the JCC twice a month. Our daytime meetings will usually be on the second Wednesday of the month from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Our evening meetings will usually take place on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. All mothers, mothers-to-be, babies, toddlers and others interested in learning more about breastfeeding are welcome to attend.

Stroke and Aphasia

Aphasia is a language disorder that impairs the expression and understanding of spoken language, reading and writing.  It occurs most often from a stroke or brain injury.  This frustrating condition affects a person's ability to communicate, but does not affect his or her intellect. Adler Aphasia Center Group of Scotch Plains is at the JCC  This group meets at the JCC 2 Fridays a month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Participants can join this group at any time.  For more information and to pre-register, contact Wendy Greenspan at 973-530-3981 or wgreenspan@adleraphasiacenter.org. This FREE aphasia communication group will:
- Help you cope with the challenges of living with aphasia
- Give you the practice with speaking
- Show you alternative communication strategies

Crohns & Colitis Foundation of American Support Group (Union County group)
