From Kristallnacht to Watergate: Memoirs of a Newspaperman with author Harry Rosenfeld
Part of our Good Reads Series
Rosenfeld tells of growing up in Hitler’s Berlin where he saw his father taken away by the Gestapo and witnessed the burning of his synagogue on Kristallnacht, the prelude to the Holocaust. Rosenfeld’s family found refuge in America where he grew up to become a hard-driving editor at The New York Herald Tribune and The Washington Post where he was Bob Woodward’s and Carl Bernstein’s boss and in charge of the paper’s Watergate expose. He offers an insider’s perspective on the Bernstein and Woodward partnership and depicts the tensions and pleasures of working for Ben Bradlee and Katherine Graham.
