FREE! Community Touch a Truck
April 29, 2018
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. - "Hold the Horn" hour designed for children with special needs
Offsite parking will be available at the UCVTS campus at 1776 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains
Back for its third year, this event provides a unique opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types including public service, emergency, utility, construction, landscaping, transportation, delivery and just have FUN – all in one place! Children will be allowed to touch their favorite vehicles, get behind the wheel, climb, explore and learn! Our very own Camp Yachad will be providing even more fun with bouncing and games and our rock wall on our campsite. Food trucks and music will also be part of the day’s entertainment. The event will be free and open to the community and will run rain or shine.
An important aspect of the event will be the “Hold the Horn” hour from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. designed for children with special needs and those with auditory sensitivity issues - no horns, music or sirens! The JCC has made a commitment to create a more inclusive community with opportunities for all members and their families to participate in all that we have to offer.
One of the trucks we'll have at the event is the Community Food Bank truck. It's coming to us EMPTY. We need to fill it! Bring along non perishable food donations anytime between now and Sunday: Canned, Tuna, Salmon, Spam, Chicken, Ham, Shelf Stable Milk, Pasta, Boxed Potatoes, Rice, Cereal, Soup, Mac and Cheese, Hearty Stews, Peanut Butter (plastic jars only), Canned fruit
Dollars raised from sponsorships allow us to make this event free.
