 Campers PK– 1st grade can enroll in a “mini-camp” program which runs in June during the time when school ends and before camp begins.

Chaverim, in Hebrew, means “friends.” This unit is where we welcome new friends into the Camp Yachad family. Chaverim campers spend their days in a nurturing, structured indoor/outdoor camp program.
It’s Chaverim – It’s Fun:

  • Campers begin each day with a spirited “Boker Tov” good morning activity
  • Groups are staffed with a minimum of 3 counselors
  • Camp groups are based in air-conditioned classrooms
  • Campers participate in an instructional swim program
  • Campers have a balanced schedule of age-appropriate activities, including sports & games, arts & crafts, music & movement, Judaica, nature, gymnastics and more!
  • Special events and theme days are an integral part of the Chaverim calendar
  • A lively Shabbat celebration concludes each week

Staff: Adult Unit Director supervises staff and campers. Adult Senior Counselors who are certified teachers supervise each group. Assistant Counselors and CITs (Counselors in Training) support each group. Professional specialty instructors are also on hand.

Yeladim, in Hebrew, means “children.” Megalim, in Hebrew, means “discoverers.” As they step up to the next level, the children in these exciting units experience a full day of camp with special attention given to transition. Yeladim and Megalim campers spend their days in a structured outdoor camp program with opportunities to come indoors for specific activities.
It’s Yeladim & Megalim– It’s Exciting:

  • Outdoor fun with opportunities to cool off indoors
  • A spirited Boker Tov good morning activity with birthday announcements, silly camper contests, games and more
  • American Red Cross swim instruction from our acclaimed Aquatics Department in both our indoor and outdoor pools...free swim too!
  • Surgents Gymnastics, professional sports programs, cooking, arts & crafts, music, Judaica, Martial Arts of America, tennis and much more
  • Special events and theme days
  • A rockin' Shabbat celebration at the end of each week featuring our own band, the Shabbatones.

sabra
Sabra (Entering grades 2 – 4)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Sabra, in Hebrew, means “native-born Israeli.” The most advanced 5-day onsite program, Sabra includes sophisticated instruction in specialty areas and an action-packed full-day program.
It’s Sabra – It’s Amazing:

  • Campers begin each day with a spirited “Boker Tov” good morning activity
  • Groups are staffed with a minimum of 3 counselors
  • Groups are based in a tented picnic area located outdoors
  • Campers participate in instructional and recreational swim programs
  • Campers experience an accelerated schedule of age-appropriate activities
  • Sabra campers receive comprehensive instruction during week-long, professionally instructed sports clinics such as basketball, soccer, golf, hockey and baseball
  • Sabra campers participate special camp “undernights”
  • Special events and theme days are an integral part of the Sabra calendar
  • A lively Shabbat celebration concludes each week
  • Plus! Strut your stuff in the camp show
  • Plus! Advanced gymnastics instruction offsite at Surgents Elite Gymnastics Academy
  • Plus! Climb, balance and zip through the low-ropes Adventure Course

olim
Olim (Entering grades 3 and 4)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Olim, in Hebrew, means “settlers.” This unit is the perfect combination of a traditional campprogram an introductory travel camp experience. Campers spend 3 days a week onsite at the JCC camp and 2 days a week on incredible day trips! Olim gives campers the opportunity to design their own camp experience through an electives program that offers innovative areas of instruction. Olim also introduces campers to the excitement of travel camp programs.

It’s Olim – It’s Awesome:

  • Trained staff provide instruction in free-choice elective activities, including (but not limited to) sports (baseball, basketball, soccer), performing arts (dance, improvisational theater), music – (musical theater & songwriting) art (drawing, painting, jewelry, wearable art, tie dyeing) science (cool chemistry, rocketry) and so much more including Spy Camp, photography & journalism, and Israeli culture
  • Olim combines a TRAVEL and ELECTIVES program in 1 week!
  • One overnight each session at NJY Camps & one night overnight at the J each session
  • A lively Shabbat celebration concludes each week
  • Plus! Travel 2 days each week on fun-filled trips like a day at the beach, catching a baseball game or visiting a zoo (just to name a few)
  • Plus! Great onsite electives program including sports, theater & dance, art, rocketry, science, photography and so much more

Staff: Adult Unit Director supervises staff and campers. Experienced Senior Counselors trained in both electives instruction and travel procedures work directly with campers.
