Dear Current and Prospective Camp Yachad families,
We are so excited to begin the camping journey with you and your family and are busy planning for a fun, action-packed Summer 2010.
Camp Yachad , which means “together” in Hebrew, is a special place where children make new friends, develop social & physical skills and create a caring and fun camp community. The camp staff receives extensive training, both before and during the camp season. Our wonderful counselors, activity specialists and administrative staff work diligently to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for the campers. As camp directors, it is really gratifying to see how each summer Camp Yachad develops into something more than just campers and staff-- everyone comes “together” as a family.
Our JCC-based day camp programs for children ages 2 ½ - 9 offer age-appropriate activities (including an instructional swim program) in a structured camp day, interspersed with awesome special events. Our unique “Olim” program for grades 3 & 4 is the best of day and travel camp combined, with 3 days/week at the JCC (with special elective activity options), and 2 days/week on day trips-- with four 24-hour overnight trips throughout the summer. Our travel camp programs for children ages 9 - 14 include alternating weeks of day and extended overnight excursions.
At Camp Yachad , we are proud of our Jewish heritage. Our camp philosophy is tied to Jewish (and universal) values of Gemilut Chasidim (acts of loving kindness), Tikkun Olam (making the world around us better), Rachmanus (respect/compassion), and Rodef Shalom (making peace). We offer some Jewish programming, such as “Jewish Adventures” (learning about Judaism and charity through arts and crafts) and our award-winning “Rockin’ Shabbat with the Shabbatones” on Fridays. At the same time, we are also very proud to be a non-sectarian and diverse camp--open to everyone in our community. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you about Camp Yachad and give you a tour of our facilities. We look forward to seeing you here this summer!
In the Spirit of Camp,
