Does camp offer a lunch program?
Yes, camp does offer a lunch program through Jerusalem Pizza and Café . Café lunches may be ordered in advance of camp, for all onsite campers.

Springfield Municipal Pool (Tsofim, Na’arim, Chalutzim)
Take Route 22 East to Mountain Avenue exit (by Terminal Pest Control). Take Mountain Avenue to Morris Avenue and turn left. Proceed under overpass and make your first right onto Prospect Place (pool sign here) and an immediate right turn onto Morrison Road into pool parking lot.

Is there transportation to and from camp?
The JCC offers roundtrip bus transportation service for all campers ages 3 and older (with the exception of the 2-day campers, and late-night trips) at no additional charge. Campers ride both ways unless they are enrolled in our early or late stay programs.

Will my child have instructional swim and recreational swim?
All (non-travel) campers will have American Red Cross instructional swim 4 days each week. In addition, all campers enrolled in programs until 4 pm will also have recreational swim each day. Water activities are also offered throughout the week.

What measures are taken to ensure the health and safety of my child?
By balancing activities and rest, we try to avoid fatigue. We watch that excessive exposure to the sun is avoided and that proper clothing and sunscreen is worn at all times. There are water fountains and coolers strategically placed around the campsite and JCC building, so that campers avoid dehydration. Additionally, we make extra use of our air-conditioned facilities on particularly hot days! Counselors must attend pre-camp staff orientations to receive safety and abuse prevention training.

What are the health and insurance requirements for camp?
Each camper is required by New Jersey State law to submit a health form completed by a parent or guardian and a physician. Health forms are included with this registration form.The forms must be returned in May prior to the start of camp in June. JCC members are covered by a group accident medical program. JCC coverage is secondary to members’ primary health coverage.

How are camper lunches and snacks handled?
Camp provides healthy morning snacks, afternoon ice pops, and plenty of water to keep our campers energized each day! All food served by Camp Yachad is certified Kosher. We ask that you respect our Kashrut (dietary) laws by sending a dairy lunch each day or pre-ordering lunch from Jerusalem Pizza and Café . All lunches will be refrigerated with the exception of lunches belonging to campers in travel programs. Insulated bags are provided for travel campers. Complementary pizza lunch is provided for all units once each week except Chalutzim.

What do I pack in my camper’s backpack?
Backpacks (supplied by camp) should be packed with all those items needed throughout the day:
- Swimsuit(s) – details on swim schedules by unit will be discussed at June parent orientations and in the Parent Manual
- Towel(s) – see above
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Bagged dairy (non-meat) lunch (unless ordering from the JCC café)
- Pool/Water shoes
- Extra socks and underwear for emergencies
- Sweatshirt or jacket for inclement weather

What does my camper need to wear to camp?
All participants in the Camp Yachad program are required to wear a camp T-shirt each and every day of the summer. Two complementary T-shirts will be provided to each camper (1 shirt provided to 2 day campers). Extra T-shirts may be pre-ordered at the time of registration. They will also be on sale at all parent orientations in June. Additionally, we require campers to wear close-toed, rubber-soled shoes—sneakers are best! PLEASE remember to label your camper’s clothing and items (towels, swimsuits, goggles, water bottles, etc.)

Will I get more information about camp prior to the summer?
A comprehensive parent manual will be mailed to all registered camp families in May. This manual contains important information regarding camp policies and procedures. Please be sure to read all of this information and keep the manual on hand during the camp season for easy reference! Additionally, there will be parent orientations at the JCC in mid-June, where parents will hear in detail about their child’s camp program from the unit director, and be able to ask questions.

Does Camp Yachad have programs for special needs children?
Whenever possible, Camp Yachad serves children with disabilities alongside their neighbors and friends. Camp Yachad is committed to seeking outside sources of funding to provide shadow staff assistance to campers requiring one-on-one attention. Shadow staffing costs that are not funded by outside sources will be passed on to families. Special needs camp group space is limited, campers are accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Does the JCC provide any financial assistance or “camperships”?
The JCC makes every effort to ensure that no child is denied the opportunity to attend camp due to financial hardship. Scholarship applications may be obtained at the camp office. All applications are confidential and will be given equal consideration. The application process is on a rolling basis. Applicants will be notified by mail of any assistance being offered.
